Every single day, new people become wrestling fans who have never seen John Cena win a match. They don’t know that he’s “booked too strong.” They don’t know how many times hardcore wrestling fans have begged for him to become a villain (which is impossible based on his character), and they don’t care. To see John Cena through the eyes of a new fan (and many casual fans) is to see the face of dominance. Yes, John Cena is essentially Superman in many respects, and while there will always be a huge contingent of people who believe that Superman is the most boring of all heroes (because he lacks real flaws and real foes), he’s incredibly necessary. He’s a pillar of faith.
That’s why new and casual fans tune into wrestling: it’s the only thing out there that can guarantee a heroes’ victory. John Cena goes out there and wins because people want to see a good guy go out there and win.
